The winds of change are sweeping across our educational institutions much like a cyclone across the Kansas plains. Educators can either stand hard and fast and seek to resist this force, or they can look to harness the energy that is being unleashed in a manner that can benefit their classroom practices and positively impact student learning.

Objectives: By the end of today's workshop, participants will be able to:
- experience first-hand some of the capabilities with which laptops provide their students
- recognize the increasing importance hand-held computing will have in university classrooms
- apply principles of effective learning to their own classroom practice
- understand how laptops could be utilized for instruction, construction of understanding, & evaluation.
- explore a variety of transformational uses for portable computing
- understand issues associated with classroom use of laptop computers
- verbalize ideas they may have for employing laptops in their courses
