Rudolf Dreikurs, Jim Fay, William Glasser, Alfie Kohn, Randy Sprick. Each group is required to produce a handout on the theorist assigned to them. The handout should be at least two pages long (one page double sided is fine) and include: a clear statement of the main ideas, strategies and/or techniques in the theory; a collection of the group's reactions, feelings, thoughts, opinions, regarding the theory; and a list of the resources used in the investigation.
Furthermore, each group will create a presentation of their work to the entire class to be delivered in a 30-45 minute time frame, which will include a question and answer period. I am looking for presentations that are creative and convey the information on a group's handout in a way that does not rely solely on reading the written word.
Due October 27, 2000.
3. Individual Project: Each student will complete an investigation regarding the needs of diverse and special learners (learning disabled, poverty, single parent, ethnic minority, etc.). The end product will be a typed paper (4-5 pages) reporting on the following: a general profile of the student group investigated; educational needs of and strategies for working with the student group; a reflection on how this information might impact your future teaching; and a list of resources used in the investigation.
Due November 10, 2000.
4. Participation. Attendance at all class meetings is required. (See evaluation below).
