Learning is a complex process. How can we foster learning and how does it take place.

Jean Piaget

Theorist that grew up in Switzerland . When he was 14 the wrote a paper on mollusk that he submitted to his museum and the curer of the museum
was so impressed that he offered him a job. His three children were his subject for his theories. He took detailed notes on then and watched them very intently.

he really loved his bike...like a lot....

Piaget's theory:

As human beings we are driven to seek new experiences and new stimulations.

1. Organization.=driving force for learning cycle
2. Adaptation: the process of building schemes through interaction with the environment.

Assimilation:

Accommodation

3. Equilibrium: balance between assimilation and accommodation until we want to try something new and then we are back to organizing.

we are born with cognitive structures and reflexes.

im a primary color...geesh

Where does the cycle begin?

We are born with cognitive structures already in place when we are born.

The cycle begins adding to and changing these pre-existing structures.

The first cognitive structures=reflexes
