TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS AND CONCEPTS.
Teachers demonstrate a sound understanding of technology operations and concepts. Teachers:
A. demonstrate introductory knowledge, skills, and understanding of concepts related to technology (as described in the ISTE National Education Technology Standards for Students)
B. demonstrate continual growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies.
My Narrative:
At the beginning of this course I did not have the skills I am leaving this class with. As a result of this class I have learned how to use many different programs to create materials and visuals that will be beneficial to my students. In this class I have been able to broaden my horizons by using a different computer platforms then I am used to. In this class I did most of my work on an Apple, where I have used a PC all of my life. As a result of having this experience it will only help me to better help my students in the future. In this class I have learned how to use; Abobe GoLive, Inspiration, Composer, and Imovie. After exploring all of these programs it has allowed me to become more comfortable with using them, which will allow me to help my students use them as well.
This class has also expanded my thinking on the benefits to technology in the classroom. As part of this class I had to attend a technology conference as well as subscribe to a journal. Through these experiences I have been able to see through others projects how beneficial technology really is. The journal is a great way to get ideas from other people to try in the classroom.

II. PLANNING AND DESIGNING LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS AND EXPERIENCES.
Teachers plan and design effective learning environments and experiences supported by technology. Teachers:
A. design developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that apply technology-enhanced instructional strategies to support the diverse needs of learners.
B. apply current research on teaching and learning with technology when planning learning environments and experiences.
C. identify and locate technology resources and evaluate them for accuracy and suitability.
D. plan for the management of technology resources within the context of learning activities.
E. plan strategies to manage student learning in a technology-enhanced environment.
My Narrative:
For this class I had to create a WebQuest to use a technological learning tool. I created a WebQuest for my 5th grade classroom on Inventors and Invention. This webquest is going to be a introductory lesson to my work sample on this topic, I found it a little hard to find information on the Internet that would be suitable for my students to read. I found the process of making this tool to be a little frustrating, but I did get it done. I feel this will be a good way to introduce this unit to my students, it is something fun and different for them. In the future I don't know if I would use this form of teaching, but it is something that I will definitely try. I think this type of learning shows students that there are other ways to gather and use information.

III. TEACHING, LEARNING, AND THE CURRICULUM.
Teachers implement curriculum plans, that include methods and strategies for applying technology to maximize student learning. Teachers:
A. facilitate technology-enhanced experiences that address content standards and student technology standards.
B. use technology to support learner-centered strategies that address the diverse needs of students.
C. apply technology to develop students' higher order skills and creativity.
D. manage student learning activities in a technology-enhanced environment.
My Narrative:
This section is very similar to the one above, I have created a WebQuest for my 5th grade class. In this WebQuest there were benchmarks and district standards that were met by doing this assignment. In this class I also created a website that can be used within the classroom to post, homework, work that is done, and a way for teachers and parents to communicate. By having a class website it allows parents to see what is going on in the classroom, it also allows for students work to be published for others to see. This is also nice if the students have relatives far away they can still feel connected to the student through the website.

IV. ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION.
Teachers apply technology to facilitate a variety of effective assessment and evaluation strategies. Teachers:
A. apply technology in assessing student learning of subject matter using a variety of assessment techniques.
B. use technology resources to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate findings to improve instructional practice and maximize student learning.
C. apply multiple methods of evaluation to determine students' appropriate use of technology resources for learning, communication, and productivity.
My Narrative:
As part of my webquest I had to provide a rubric for the students. This rubric was the various different categories that the students are going to be graded on. By grading the students on this rubric I will be able to see what the students got out of this lesson. This feedback I get from the rubric will also be helpful for me in my future teaching, to see what was understood and what wasn't.

V. PRODUCTIVITY AND PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE.
Teachers use technology to enhance their productivity and professional practice. Teachers:
A. use technology resources to engage in ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.
B. continually evaluate and reflect on professional practice to make informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of student learning.
C. apply technology to increase productivity.
D. use technology to communicate and collaborate with peers, parents, and the larger community in order to nurture student learning.
My Narrative:
As a result of learning how to create an Imoive, I was able to implement it into a presentation on Mexican culture. By having an Imovie within the presentation it helped the students to have a better understanding of what is going on in the culture we were looking at. This also shows students how using multiple forms of technology in presenting information can be beneficial to students learning of the concept. At the bottom of this narrative you will find a link to the use of an IMovie in a presentation.
I my 5th grade classroom my mentor teacher and I created a planet jeopardy game on power point. By using this technological tool it excited the students about learning. This tool was fun to create and is something that can be created an used for many different other things in the classroom.
As part of this course I attended a conference in September about technology in the classroom. This conference was something that was beneficial to me because I was able to see many different ways technology is used in the classroom. This was also a good opportunity to meet other people in the teaching profession that understand the importance of technology in the classroom. At the bottom you will find a like to the website for the providers of the conference and other upcoming events.
As part of this class we subscribed to ISTE, a professional organization. A part of their organization they put out a magazine that highlights others teachers work with technology in the classroom. This publication provides other with new and innovative ideas to use in our own classrooms. I find this publication to be very helpful, there are a lot of things in it I would not think about doing in a classroom.

VI. SOCIAL, ETHICAL, LEGAL, AND HUMAN ISSUES.
Teachers understand the social, ethical, legal, and human issues surrounding the use of technology in PK-12 schools and apply those principles in practice. Teachers:
A. model and teach legal and ethical practice related to technology use.
B. apply technology resources to enable and empower learners with diverse backgrounds, characteristics, and abilities.
C. identify and use technology resources that affirm diversity
D. promote safe and healthy use of technology resources.
E. facilitate equitable access to technology resources for all students.
My Narrative:
The way I have met this standard is by citing and using age appropriate for the students I am having use the webquest. In looking around at different websites to use it is important to search around the site to make sure the site is credible. In making the webquest I had to find sites that were appropriate for the students I am working with, I made sure the content and vocabulary were appropriate for them.
Also by being familiar with both platforms of computers it will help me to match students up with the technology that fits them best. This is important in their success with computers, if they can't navigate them very easily it will be very frustrating for them. I want to instill in my students how fun and useful technology can be in their live.

Final Reflections
This class has taught me many new things about technology. The new things I have learned have and will be very beneficial to me and the students of my classroom. I look forward to gaining more skills and insight about technology in the classroom through different resources and publications. I feel most of the projects I have done in the class are things that could be improved but at this point I am satisfied with the projects I have done. In this class there was lots of help from my peers and with out them I would not be where I am at this point in time. Thank Guys and Gals!!!
