Square of Life

On the first day of May our class collected data for the Square of Life project. This project was developed by Center for Improved Engineering and Science Education (CIESE) and Bank Street College of Education.

In this project students select and mark off a square meter of ground, make observations, and then record what plants, animals, and non-living objects they find. Our students also did some journaling while out in the forest. Tom McCall is unique in having a small forest on the school property. This forest includes a meadow area (formerly a house site), and three types of forest: pine, fir, and historic white oak trees.
